Shaving - What to Do and What to Avoid

2.jpgMen have a much more oily skin texture and pores are much larger and broader than in women. Men generally tend to ignore the skin care frequently, too. They think that taking care of your skin is something only women do, which is false, because every woman loves a well groomed man.
There’s no need to invest much time and money to make your facial skin better and hygienically acceptable. All it takes is regular washing, use of lotions, cleaning, and that’s it.
Groomed skin is easier to shave, as shaving itself takes a toll on the skin. But, what’s the proper way to prepare the skin? First and foremost you should soften the facial skin, which can be achieved by taking a shower in hot water before shaving. Sometimes there is no time for showering; keeping a warm towel on your face for a couple of minutes will do the trick, too, just like in those old movies. This way we get the same effect as if we had showered in warm water.
When you’ve softened the facial skin, you should apply the shaving gel. It is important to properly apply the creams or foams to fully cover the pores, avoiding the irritation when shaving. If you have sensitive skin, avoid mint-based gels as they can irritate it. Instead, select a gentler product for sensitive skin.
Furthermore, it is necessary to know how to properly shave, so that afterwards, there is no blood, cuts, redness, pimples and irritated skin. The best electric shavers can protect you from most of these shaving side effects. It is important to pull the blade in the direction of hair growth, not the other way around.
After shaving, wash the face in cold water, which will close and constrict the pores, which also prevents bleeding and irritation. Ideally, you should let it dry on its own, without rubbing it with a towel. If you are in a hurry, simply soak up the water droplets with a towel, but make sure not to rub the skin.
Last step is to apply lotion or cream after shaving - it’s all a matter of habit. Whichever product you choose, it is important that it doesn’t contain alcohol which will dry out and irritate the skin.
Women generally prefer neat and freshly shaven men. No, three-day beards are fine as well – they are just as sexy and attractive, provided they are properly maintained and nice, smooth and soft, and not the result of negligence and poor hygiene.
